How Nairn Park’s Rob Costello Is Rebuilding with Resilience and DelayPay.
When Robert Costello steps into the yards at Nairn Park Angus, he’s not just looking at cattle. He’s looking at decades of breeding decisions, drought recovery, and the future of his family’s farm.
The second-generation stud breeder runs a high-performance Angus operation across multiple properties in New South Wales, including their original base at Tenterfield, a bull depot south of Tamworth, and their core herd near WCA. The Nairn Park Angus Stud, founded in 1962, is a legacy enterprise and it’s coming back stronger than ever after severe droughts in 2018–19 halved its numbers.
“It absolutely decimated us, like it did everyone. But we’ve been slowly rebuilding. DelayPay’s been a blessing in that process.” Rob Costello proprietor of Nairn Park.
Rob and his partner run around 300 stud breeders, alongside a commercial herd used for feedlot and grass-fed markets, recipient cows, and elite embryo transfer work. Since 1996, they’ve leaned into reproductive technologies and now with IVF through Queensland-based company Embryo, they’re rebuilding their stud with only the top 5% of genetics.
“We’re rebuilding with more depth and quality than ever before — the herd is smaller, but stronger.”
After a five-year pause, the Nairn Park team is gearing up for a big return to auction. Their first live bull sale since 2018 will be held on 9 August 2025, featuring 50 elite Angus bulls, many sired by industry-leading sires like Dunoon Recharge, Clean Range Plantation, Millah Murrah Paratrooper, and more.
For the first time since the devastating 2018-19 droughts, in which NSW Angus breeder Rob Costello had to halve his herd, he is physically auctioning off 50 elite bulls.
Rob is rebuilding Nairn Park with cutting-edge genetics and a flexible cash flow partner in DelayPay. From feed and seed to fencing gear, DelayPay has helped Rob invest in his operation even when income was delayed — and now he’s preparing to host Nairn Park’s first in-person bull auction since 2018. With 50 elite Angus bulls heading to the ring on 9 August, including progeny by Dunoon Recharge and other industry standouts, this is a sale not to miss.
